Night time is my favourite time.
Not to sound super anti “living my life to the full”, but I love getting ready for bed. After a long day there’s nothing more refreshing than starting my night time skincare routine with La Roche Posay, throwing on a pair of PJs and settling down on my sofa to relax. I don’t know a lot about skincare, but what I do know is I have a nice routine going on right now and I wanted to share it with you. My night time skincare is quite La Roche Posay heavy as it’s a brand that I love and really enjoy using. I also dabble in brands such as Eucerin and Elizabeth Arden too but that’s more of my day time routine.

Lets get into the good stuff
To take my make up off I either use a flannel or a reusable cotton pads. I find a flannel works best if I’ve got a full face of make up on. But if I’ve had a day at home with no make up on, I tend to skip step 1 and the flannel and jump straight to step 2 with the cotton pad. I don’t often double cleanse when my face is make up free. My night time routine starts either before or after dinner because I like to relax and be at home make up free. If I’m at home and not due to leave the house again, my make up is off. I like to let my skin breathe for as long as possible in the evening.
Step 1: I splash my face with some warm water and use the Effaclar Purifying Cleansing gel.I rub this all over my face to break up my make up (including my mascara), then rinse and use the flannel to wipe my face clean.
Step 2: I go in with a second cleanser. I do this purely because the first cleanser is to clean my face as formulated for oily blemish-prone skin. However my skin is also dry so I use a more hydrated cleanser for step 2. The Effaclar H Cleansing Cream is a soft and hydrating cleanser that I personally feel like puts the moisture back into my skin after step 1. It works well to get the remaining make up off my face too. I use the same flannel for cleanse number 2. But if I’ve skipped step 1, I use reusable cotton pads.
Step 3: Once my skin is dry I go in with the Nutritic Intense for Dry Skin to give my skin some over night hydration. This cream really sinks in and hydrates my skin. I think this may have been my first ever product bought from La Roche Posay! I’ve definitely repurchased it a few times over the years.
Step 4: I use the Effaclar Duo Anti-imperfections cream around my blemish problem areas for the correction and extra hydration but this time, for oily skin. Mainly focusing on my nose or chin – and any rogue spots!
Step 5: My final step comes a fair few hours after step 4 has been finished. Once my skin has really absorbed all I’ve put on I end the night with Redermic Anti-Wrinkle Retinol Treatment. I pop this on right before I go to bed.
This is a routine that I am enjoying at the moment and it works for me. The retinol is a new addition to my skincare and so far, so good. I’ve had a few small break outs but I’m not convinced that’s at a result of the Retinol cream. La Roche Posay are a favourite when it comes to skincare for me and I’d always recommend them for anyone with sensitive skin like me. I always recommend to do your research but to try something yourself. You can read one hundred reviews but at the end of the day, you know your skin. A great starter kit is the Effalcar 2-Step Anti-Blemish System kit which is a bargain. These were the second and third items I purchased for my skincare routine and if you have oily and blemish prone skin then they’re great! If you’re like me and you’re oily but dry, I find going in on top with a more hydrating cleanser for a double cleanse works a treat.
And that my friends is my night time skincare routine!
