Gift Guide: Shopping Locally And Supporting Entrepreneurs This Christmas

It’s the time of year where your inbox, timelines and feeds are jam packed with gift guides.

The best from Topshop for your sister or the must have gift for your boyfriend from ASOS. You’re rammed with different options for gifts from high street and Luxury retailers, but have you thought about shopping locally or supporting entrepreneurs for Christmas? There are so many local independent businesses with great gifts just waiting to be discovered. Supporting local businesses is something we all need to do more. It’s great for local economy, you’re supporting creative people pursuing their dreams and the quality of customer experience and product more often than not, is better. I know a number of people who have started up their own company and brand from scratch and where I can, I support them.

Why not go into town and take a look in your local independent gift shops and see what you can find? Why not look up small business online and discover a new brand to fall in love with?

More than ever I am supporting local companies and start up brands. This Christmas I have made a more conscious effort to shop locally and to talk about shopping locally. I’ve put together a couple local brands (to me in Oxford) who I recommend you check out before you finish your Christmas shopping. I’ve also linked a couple of online shops you may find of interest. If you’re not local to Oxford then google local businesses to you, or by all means, support the local ones I have discovered.

 Ermana Natural Skincare

Ermana Natural Skincare is a local skincare brand worth checking out. Click here to read my review on a couple of products, I really rate them. A lovely natural and organic skincare brand which would make a lovely Christmas present for that skincare lover in your life.

Ama Ama Shop

Ama Ama is a mother and daughter duo hand making gender neutral baby clothes & accessories, using soft natural materials. The daughter of this business is actually a friend of mine and the company she has started with her mother is beautiful. The quality and style of these baby clothes is so wonderful and the babies wearing them on their Instagram are SO adorable.

Custom-Made UK

Custom-Made UK design and create beautiful modern jewellery and accessories which are sold online and at fairs dotted around the UK. I bought the most gorgeous silver sterling necklace (featured in photo) and I adore it. Take a look at their shop here and their instagram here. Simple or quirky, there’s a jewellery piece for everyone.

Whilst I have your attention…

I also wanted to share two great entrepreneurs who are bloggers. Check them out!

Emma Inks – Gothic Greeting Cards.

Emma Inks is a fellow blogger who has created this awesome etsy shop selling Gothic Greeting Cards. They’re very cool and quirky greeting cards, I think they’re amazing. I purchased one to send to a friend and the quality is great.

Lady Writes Blog – Letter Writes

Lady Writes Blog has created a business called Letter Writes which are cute felt letter boards. The classic letter board in grey is my favourite and I think in the new year, when I rearrange my room, it’ll be the replacement to my Lightbox. I’ve heard nothing but great things about these boards, seems everyone I know on twitter has one, it’s great and I am jealous!

    Hello ,

I saw your tweets and thought I will check your website. Have to say it looks very good!
I’m also interested in this topic and have recently started my journey as young entrepreneur.

I’m also looking for the ways on how to promote my website. I have tried AdSense and Facebok Ads, however it is getting very expensive. Was thinking about starting using analytics. Do you recommend it?
Can you recommend something what works best for you?

I also want to improve SEO of my website. Would appreciate, if you can have a quick look at my website and give me an advice what I should improve:
(Recently I have added a new page about FutureNet and the way how users can make money on this social networking portal.)

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Hope to hear from you soon.

Maybe I will add link to your website on my website and you will add link to my website on your website? It will improve SEO of our websites, right? What do you think?

    Jan Zac
