Hello Psoriasis, Hello Skin

I have suffered with skin conditions my entire life and it is one of the reasons I became interested in skincare and beauty. I wanted to source products that were compatible with my irritable skin and share my thoughts on them. What I’d have given for beauty product reviews for sensitive skin 10 years ago! Having skin conditions and sensitive skin can really knock your confidence but beauty, make up and skincare bring my confidence back up.

Having a skin condition means it’s an on going battle to find suitable products so when Hello Skin got in touch with me about a collaboration, I was over the moon. It’s the perfect collaboration for me, especially so now as my Psoriasis is rearing it’s ugly head, on my head (see what I did there?). I’ve been desperately seeking new products to try and help my scalp through this rough stage.

Hello Skin is an online store selling skincare for Psoriasis, Eczema, Ache and Dry Skin. The ideal shop for me as I have 3 out of 4 of those issues (touch wood, I don’t suffer with ache). The team research into all the products and lay it out simply on their website, all the information is incredibly easy to find. By using their need, type and ingredient tabs you can be taken straight to the type of products you need for the type of skin you have. You don’t need to go trawling through endless lists of products trying to narrow it down yourself, Hello Skin do it for you.

I was very lucky to be able to select 3 products from Hello Skin to try. As I said, my Psoriasis is rearing it’s ugly head right now so I was very excited to try new products that could potentially help my skin.

The first product I tried was the Bioderma gentle shower gel. Body wash to me is a standard, nothing special product that you just use daily for good hygiene. Prescribed body wash never seems to lather so I have never really enjoyed body washes. I can’t tell you how much I had missed washing with bubbles. Sounds weird, right? But it was such a treat to see the Bioderma body wash lathering in the shower. 2 pumps of the product on a sponge and you’re good to go. It makes me feel clean, leaves my skin looking normal (which is a really good thing!) and my skin doesn’t feel dehydrated from the product. I always worry if I will come out the shower with red marks or irritated skin from trying new products, but I left the shower how I entered it, but cleaner, of course. This simple, nice and non-irritant body wash gets a thumbs up from.

My scalp Psorasis is awful right now. It’s really getting me down and I am struggling everyday with keeping the itching and soreness under control. I haven’t really tried coal tar shampoos before, I used one once, a long time ago and never tried it again. Alphosyl 2 in 1 shampoo has an active ingredient of coal tar extract that has anti-scaling properties and relieves scalp irritation and itching. It did make a difference to how much I was itching but not much more than my other shampoo. It’s a product I am glad I tried but most likely wouldn’t purchase again as I’d hope to find something that worked a little more for me. I really like a herbal smell, it’s very strong and ‘medicine’ like but I enjoy the way my hair smells after using it. It lathers too, which is something my other shampoo doesn’t do. I really have (like a total crazy woman) missed products that lather, so I have loved washing my hair with this shampoo. I’d definitely say to give this product a go if you suffer with scalp Psorasis, it made a difference but not a big enough one to warrant me purchasing it again. However, everyone’s different and I would always say give things ago!

Saving the best product till last, of course. The La Roche- Posay Lipikar Baume AP+ moisturiser is an incredible moisturiser for my body. It’s thick, creamy, incredibly nourishing and gave me instant results when applied. It absorbed straight into my skin and left me feeling super soft. There’s no smell, no harsh chemicals in the ingredients and it’s so friendly to the skin that you can use it on small children. This is my new favourite for body moisturing. I think I am starting to love La Roche-Posay products, this is the second one I’ve tried and it’s really impressed me. My body has been feeling far more hydrated and less flaky from dryness. It’s been a life saver for the front of my legs which get ridiculously dry and itchy. This is definitely one to repurchase, I can’t get enough of it!

Hello Skin is the website to be on if you suffer with a skin condition, people don’t talk about them enough and finding information out can be really hard. Skin conditions can be seen as gross and unattractive but unfortunately, they’re a part of my life. I am working on bringing more and more content to my blog on products suitable for skin conditions. If one person can take something away from my reviews, then my job is done. Thank you to Hello Skin for getting in touch and sending me these 3 great products.
